Portuguese venture capital company Lince Capital is leading a €1.4 million Seed round in British sports tech startup Zen8.

Zen8 aims to democratise access to swimming training without having to go to a swimming pool using a solution that combines technical hardware with gaming elements.

Venture Capital entities other than Lince included Celtis, Beta Capital and Lx Launch.

The financing will enable the startup to finalise the product, beef up its team, invest in marketing and sales, and expand the operation of its subsidiary in Portugal.

Zen8 promises to help athletes swim faster in three weeks through a mixture of speed, technique and power.

Its machines are designed for triathletes, swimmers and surfers to boost technique and endurance without even having to go to the gym or pool. It is portable and designed to be used almost anywhere.
