Portuguese lead preferences for hybrid work in Europe
Seventy-nine per cent of Portuguese prefer hybrid or totally remote forms of working according to a study undertaken by MARCO – an increase of 9% on 2024.
According to its Global Consumer Report 2025, 74% of Portuguese believe that hybrid work does not affect working with colleagues.
The Portuguese were among those who most prized flexible working models in Europe.
The study, which involved 4,500 participants from seven countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Mexico and Brazil), analyses the evolution of hybrid work as a global trend, workers’ preferences and the impact of these models on organizational culture.
Flexibility at the top of Portuguese workers’ choices
The preference for hybrid work continues to grow. Portugal leads in the preference for hybrid and remote work, with 79% of respondents placing these models at the top of their choices, an increase of 9% compared to 2024, and a result above the global average of 70%.
These results highlight the growing importance of flexibility in the national labour market and reinforce the need for organizations to adapt to employees’ expectations, integrating models capable of responding to personal and professional motivations.
“The future of work belongs to organizations that put people at the centre. Talent is increasingly attracted to environments where flexibility, purpose and opportunities for growth go hand in hand.
By investing in the development of their employees and fostering relationships based on trust, companies not only attract the best professionals, but also enhance their full value,” concludes Carlos García, Director of Internal Communication at MARCO.
