The Italo-Portuguese insurer Generali Tranquilidade has been voted the best insurance company in Portugal according to a study undertaken by consumer watchdog DecoProteste for the second year running.

The distinction was awarded to the insurer that best combined the quality of its policies with price competitiveness, and customer satisfaction.

For this year’s edition the focus was once again on the non-life insurance branches of insurance, taking in car, health, and multi-risk household insurance.

Generali Tranquilidade succeeded in winning the award partly on the back of having got the highest score for car insurance, as was the case in 2024.

Deco ProTeste’s decision is based on several criteria, namely: performance in annual studies on car, health and multi-risk housing insurance; customer satisfaction, measured through the annual survey of underwriters; and volume of complaints, including complaints registered with Deco Proteste, on the Reclamar website and with the Insurance and Pension Funds Supervisory Authority.

The insurance companies Allianz and Fidelidade were also on the podium for the Best Insurance Company in Portugal. Allianz took second place, while Fidelidade came in third, thus maintaining the same order as the previous year.
