5 million passengers pass through Portugal’s airports in November – UK most popular destination
The number of passengers passing through Portugal’s airports was up 5% in November like-for-like on 2024 to 5 million.
This is according to Portugal’s National Statistics Institute (INE) which released the figures on passenger movements on Tuesday and which revealed that the most popular destination was the United Kingdom.
The United Kingdom was also the main source of passengers arriving at Portugal’s airports says the INE.
“In November 2025, national airports handled about five million passengers and 22,200 tons of cargo and mail, corresponding to year-on-year variations of +5% and -2.3%, respectively (+4.5% and -7.5% in the previous month, in the same order),” according to the same statistics office.
In that month, “an average of 79,100 passengers disembarked per day, up from 75,800 in November 2024, representing a growth of 4.4%,” according to the INE. In the same period, there were 17,500 aircraft landings on commercial flights at national airports, which means a year-on-year growth of 4.8%. The United Kingdom remained the main country of origin and destination for flights between January and November, showing increases in both passengers disembarked (+2.3%) and those embarked (+2.2%), compared to the same period in 2024. France and Spain ranked second and third respectively among the main countries of origin and destination.
