Cerealis and Better Foods merge to create €300 million milling operation
Cerealis, which as nine factories and Better Foods, which has four factories, have reached an agreement to merge their respective milling operations in Portugal creating one large group which could turnover €300 million a year.
Grupo Cerealis is a major Portuguese agri-food group focused on processing cereals into various products, leading in pasta and industrial/culinary flours, while also producing breakfast cereals, biscuits, and cereal bars, operating across Portugal and internationally with brands like Nacional and Milaneza.
It emphasises innovation, sustainability, and healthy eating in their mission, processing vast amounts of cereals yearly in their certified production centers.
In Portugal the Portuguese Better Foods Group is a major B2B flour and cereal processor for bakeries and the bakery foods industry.
Cerealis is held by Carlos Moreira da Silva and the Silva Domingues family while Better Foods is controlled by Portuguese entrepreneurs.
On December 16 the two groups announced that they had reached an agreement to merge their respective operations in a partnership that will join Cerealis Moagens and the units Ceres, German, Granel and Carneiro Campos.
In a statement, the two groups explain that the merger aims to “strengthen the competitiveness and industrial capacity of the Portuguese milling sector, at a time of rapid transformation of the Iberian market.”
