The French bank BNP Paribas, which has been in Portugal for 40 years, has launched a foundation to “give back to a country that has contributed so much to the BNP Group Paribas” and today is a strategic country for group.

The 14th BNP Paribas Group Foundation to be created worldwide aims to reinforce the group’s commitment to the sustainable and inclusive development of Portuguese society.

The Foundation was created to respond to the most pressing social, environmental and cultural challenges in the country, consolidating all the Group’s philanthropic activity in Portugal in a single vision, in the year in which BNP Paribas celebrates 40 years of its activity in Portugal
.

At the time of its launch, the Foundation invested €1.5 million, allocated by the parent Foundation, in the context of the Climate & Biodiversity Initiative, which supports scientists in the study of climate change in marine biodiversity, in two Portuguese winning projects (out of a total of 163 submitted worldwide) – in what it says is clear evidence of the quality of the work carried out in this area in Portugal.
