TAP voted the Leading World Airline flying to South America and Africa

The World Travel Awards have voted Portugal’s national carrier TAP as the Leading World Airline flying to South America and Africa for its “dedication to building strong links with South America and South Africa.

At a ceremony that took place in Bahrain, the national carrier was also voted as the ‘European Airline with the ‘Best Website at the World Travel Tech Awards 2025’.

The World Travel Awards distinguishes the best in world tourism across various categories in various parts of the world with the winners chosen by professionals in the tourism and travel agency, and tour operator sectors, as well as the general public in general.

“These awards have a deep meaning for us. They reflect eight decades of dedication to building strong and reliable links between Europe and two of the most vibrant, diverse and culturally rich regions in the world”, TAP’s Head of Marketing & Branding, Justina Valente says in a communiqué.

80 WEEKLY FLIGHTS TO AFRICA
TAP has 80 weekly flights to Africa from Porto and Lisbon, to 14 destinations in Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé and Príncipe, Morocco, Senegal, Gambia and Ghana.

TAP Air Portugal has 91 weekly flights to Brazil and flies directly from Lisbon to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belem, Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Fortaleza, Natal, Maceío, Porto Alegre, Recife, Salvador, Florianópolis, and Manaus, apart from linking Porto to São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

All told, TAP flies to 13 cities (15 routes from Lisbon and Porto) which are directly linked to Portugal, and from 2026 TAP will also fly to Curitiba.

TAP currently flies to 85 destinations with over 1,000 flights per week.
