Patrícia Barão is the new president of Portugal’s Association of Estate Agents and Real Estate Sector Professionals (APEMIP) for the term of 2026-2028 having achieved 72% of the votes.

The Head of DILS Residential was elected at a meeting on December 4 at which there was a strong attendance from members.

Until now Patrícia has been vice-president of the association and now takes on “the commitment to reinforce the qualification and credibility of the sector, in a real estate context marked by structural challenges, such as market regulation and a greater drive towards professionalism in the companies and among professionals that operate in the country”, states a press release from APEMIP.

Patrícia Barão will “represent the sector independently, by promoting best practices, strengthening the relationship with public authorities, and contributing to a more transparent real estate market, both for consumers and investors”.

Patrícia Barão said: “it is with a great sense of responsibility and enormous pride that I accept the presidency of our association. Real estate mediation plays a decisive role in boosting the housing market and should be recognised as a highly specialised and regulated activity in order to ensure confidence among all parties.

I will work to strengthen the credibility of the sector, as well as represent our professionals and ensure that APEMIP remains an active agent in building solutions that respond to the country’s challenges. We will continue strong and united”.

The APEMIP board comprises 30 sector professionals from small, medium and large companies, who symbolise a project of continuity and union. Among the names on the board are Paulo Caiado, Deputy Vice-President, Domingos Silva, Vice-President North, José Paraíso, Vice-President Centre, Marina Zueva, Vice-President LVT, Reinaldo Teixeira, President of the General Assembly, and Hugo Ferreira, President of the Fiscal Board.
