Fidelidade says Gloria Elevator compensation to victims will take time but will be paid out
The CEO of Fidelidade, the insurance company that insures public transport company Carris, says compensation payouts to the victims of the Gloria elevator accident will take time because the insurer is still trying to calculate the amounts involved, but insists the payouts will be made.
“These processes tend to take a little longer. We have already paid out expenses to all these victims in hospital treatments and the travel expenses of family members”, said Rogério Campos Henriques in an interview with Antena 1 and Jornal de Negócios.
He said that this type of process is typically lengthy because the amount of compensation had to be “clearly defined in the case of deaths.”
Rogério Campos Henriques said that in order to reach an amount, various variables had to be taken into account such as the age of the victim, their family circumstances, moral damage that may or may not be incurred or even the identification of heirs, making the process longer.
“It’s a process that will take time, what we can assure is that regardless of how long this process takes, no one will be left helpless,” added the executive, who declined to specify the amount provisioned by the insurer for this case, stating that “it is several million euros”.
