Equinix, Hovione, Logoplaste and Lusospace win awards at the AmCham Tributes 2024
The 10th edition of the annual American Chamber of Commerce Awards (AmCham) was held at the Palácio Estoril Hotel with around 200 guests.
At this year’s annual dinner and gala at which the AmCham Tribute trophies were presented to the companies and personalities which had most contributed to economic, corporate, and relations between the United States and Portugal in 2024, the companies Equinix, Hovione, Logoplaste and Lusospace took home awards – all companies recognized for their role in promoting innovation, internationalization and for being particularly dynamic in their bi-lateral trading relations.
The event was chaired by His Excellency the Deputy Minister for State Reform, Gonçalo Matias, representing the Prime Minister, on a night marked by celebration, positive energy and the spirit of friendship and cooperation that characterise the AmCham community.
Under the theme “Celebrating Friendship, Honouring Peace”, the dinner included the screening of a film produced by AmCham Portugal, entitled PEACE, which highlighted the importance of peace as an essential basis for prosperity, the well-being of societies and the development of companies.
Honourable mentions were also given to Amgen Capability Center and Organon, in recognition of their contribution to economic and social development in both markets.
In the Personality of the Year category, Dr. Leonor Beleza and Mr. Devin Nunes were awarded trophies for their relevant action and leadership in strengthening relations between Portugal and the United States.
“Tonight is about much more than awards. It is the celebration of friendship, cooperation and peace that unites companies, people and our two countries. Together, we will continue to build bridges that promote prosperity, innovation and sustainable growth for all,” said the President of AmCham Portugal, António Martins da Costa.
It was, in short, a memorable evening of celebration, sharing and inspiration, reinforcing the values of friendship, peace and cooperation that guide AmCham Portugal’s mission.
Equinix – represented at the ceremony by Carlos Paulino, Managing Director Carlos Paulino highlighted Equinix’s strategic role in Portugal, reinforcing global connectivity and commitment to environmental sustainability through the new LS2 data centre in Lisbon.
Hovione – represented at the ceremony by Jean-Luc Herbeaux, CEO Jean-Luc Herbeaux shared Hovione’s 25-year trajectory in the US, highlighting significant investments, team growth and impact on the global pharmaceutical industry, underlining Portuguese innovation and talent.
Logoplaste – represented at the ceremony by Filipe de Botton, Chairman Filipe de Botton explained how the innovative “Wall-to-Wall” model has transformed the packaging industry, strengthening Logoplaste’s presence in the USA and promoting sustainability and transatlantic cooperation.
LusoSpace – represented at the ceremony by Ivo Yves Vieira, CEO Ivo Yves Vieira presented PoSAT-2, the first Portuguese commercial satellite, and explained LusoSpace’s ambitious plans to put Portugal on the global map of the aerospace sector, demonstrating the union between Portuguese engineering and American technology.
