Renting a house 5.7% dearer in October

The price of renting a house in Portugal’s rental market increased by 5.7% in October compared to the same month in 2024.

And renting a house cost €17/m2 for the first time. In Lisbon that cost was €22.8/m2, Porto €18.3/m2, and Faro €15.8m2 – the three costliest cities to rent in the country.

However, the Alentejo region posted the greatest annual increase overall (16.1%), followed by the centre (11.3%), and the Azores. (10.9%)

Among the districts with the biggest increases were Beja (22.1%), Guarda (21.5%) and Castelo Branco (17.5%).

The Metropolitan Area of Lisbon continues to be the most expensive region in the country at over 20.2m2 according to the online estate agency and real estate sector analysts Idealista.
