EDP and EDP Renováveis posted a 14% increase in energy output for the third quarter of 2025.

Hydro-production on the Iberian peninsula reached 9Tw/h – above what was expected. “Despite a third quarter being slightly below the average, the first nine months of 2025 were marked by strong hydro resources, 38% above the historic average in the like-for-like quarter”, says the company.

EDPR renewable energy production (the company is led by Miguel Stilwell de Andrade), saw a growth of 30 TWh with an operational performance “supported by greater installed capacity”.

The majority of the production was in the US (14,569 GWH), but the largest growth was in South America (+30%). Europe continues to come second in production, but posted a fall of 0.2% in the third quarter.

“In the last 12 months, additional growth capacity totalled +3.3 GW with Europe and the US representing 82% of this growth and solar energy contributing with 64% of total additions”, explains EDPR.

These supplements were were partially mitigated by assert rotation, including the deconsolidation of 83MW of solar energy in Spain (2T25) and 121 MW of wind energy in France and Belgium (3T25)”, continues the note.

Despite a first quarter slightly below the average, EDP says that the first nine months of the year were marked by strong hydric resources, 38% above the historic average (33% in the like-for-like period).

At the start of the year reservoirs were around 60% and increased 68% at the end of September, being above the average of 52% for the period thanks to high levels of rain in the first nine months of the year.
