Teixeira Duarte joins stock market ‘premier league’
The Portuguese construction company Teixeira Duarte returned to Lisbon’s Euronext stock market on Monday in a move that should attract capital to the company.
Its means that the PSI index now has 16 companies trading shares after falling to 15 with the departure of renewables company Greenvolt that had been acquired by the equities fund KKR through a public tender offer in November, 2021.
The company said that its return to Euronext Lisbon had followed “challenging years with profound changes” that had enabled the company to get back to profitability.
Teixeira Duarte’s return to the “premier league” of stock market listed Portuguese companies means that it will once again attract the investment of funds and put the company back in the spotlight for international investors, although the reduced capital dispersed on the stock market could prove a stumbling bock for the entry of overseas funds and the dizzying increase in the value of shares by 672.15% in 2025 could limit gains in the short term.
Teixeira Duarte is currently performing well financially, with a significant increase in net profit in the first half of 2025 and a growing work portfolio. While turnover slightly decreased due to performance in the real estate sector, the group is strengthening its market position, demonstrating strong performance in its core construction business and securing new large-scale projects, such as the High-Speed rail (Alta Velocidade) concession in Portugal, with a strong positive outlook for the future.
The company’s net profit in 1H 2025 nearly quadrupled to €42.6 million in the first half of 2025, a substantial increase from €11 million in 1H 2024.
