CTT opens new operational centre in Sintra
CTT has opened a new automated Operations Centre in Rio de Mouro, in the municipality of Sintra, creating around 350 jobs. In a statement, the postal group highlights that the investment was €2 million.
The new facilities have an automatic sorter with 60 outputs, with the capacity to process up to 6,000 mail items per hour, totaling around 126 thousand items per day. The centre will allow the preparation of up to 300 distribution routes and will serve approximately 900,000 people. The current area is 5,000 m2, but the possibility of expansion is planned if the operation justifies it.
João Bento, CEO of CTT, explains that “the opening of this new Operational Center represents a strategic step to better serve the Greater Lisbon area, substantially reinforcing our order processing capacity through a fully automated sorter in which, interestingly, we introduced for the first time in our Iberian network, a package individualization equipment (singulator) specially designed for inducing large volumes of B2C packages. This investment allows us to respond with greater efficiency and quality to the needs of our customers, demonstrating clearly demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the modernization and innovation of operations,” he said in a statement.
