The German company Cargo.one has acquired the Portuguese maritime fleets transaction listings platform Cargofive.

Using AI technology, Cargo.one provides air, sea and road fare data through direct links with 75 airlines, the 10 largest maritime carriers and dozens of GSAs (General Sales Agencies).

For carriers, it offers multiple digital distribution channels for online booking and rate distribution to 30,000 freight forwarder users in 172 countries, along with real-time analytics and AI agents for sales and customer support.

A Portuguese start-up, Cargofive developed a technology that integrates AI to digitise the complexities of maritime transport. This transaction makes it possible to unify data on air and maritime transport in a single native AI operating system.

PLMJ advised cargo.one on the structuring, negotiation and completion of the acquisition of Cargofive. It was co-led by Alexander Ehlert (partner) and Ana Nunes Teixeira (senior associate) and included the participation of lawyers Mariana Teles and Luiza Toniolo, all from the Corporate M&A area.
