Building costs increase 3.7% so far this year
Building a house or apartment block has become more expensive since the beginning of the year. New housing construction costs increased by 3.7% in January, according to the National Statistics Institute (INE). Labour costs continued to drive prices.
New housing construction costs increased by 3.7% in January compared to the same month in 2025, with labor increasing by 7.2% and the price of materials by 0.8%, according to an estimate released this Monday, 9th, by INE.
The year-on-year variation in the New Housing Construction Cost Index (ICCHN) stood at 3.7% in January, a rate lower by 0.2 percentage points compared to that observed in December, according to the National Statistics Institute (INE).
