Renewables secure 74% of electricity production produced in Portugal in November

In November, 74.3% of all electricity produced on mainland Portugal came from renewable energy sources (3.081 kWh) up 8.3% on the previous month.

This is according to Renewable Electricity Bulletin for November 2025 produced by the Portuguese Association of Renewable Energies (APREN) which said that the value corresponded to 3081 GWh from a total of 4147 GWh produced in November – a growth of 8.3% on October.

Wind energy led renewable production in November, with 34%, followed by hydro, with 26.1%, solar, with 8.4%, and bioenergy, with 5.7%.
 
In the period from January to November 2025, Portugal maintains its prominent position among the European leaders in the energy transition.

The country ranks 4th with the highest renewable incorporation in electricity generation (75.1%), ranking only behind Norway (97.7%), Denmark (88.4%) and Austria (82.1%).
 
Between 1 January and 30 November, the average hourly price on the Iberian Electricity Market (MIBEL) in Portugal was €65.0/MWh.

It should be noted that during this period there were 1,339 hours (non-consecutive) in which renewable generation was sufficient to supply the entire electricity consumption of mainland Portugal. If November only is considered, there were 72 hours in this framework, with an average price of €39.7/MWh.
