Portuguese insurtech expands to Spain with insurer Hiscox

The Portuguese insurtech Indie Seguros that specialises on integrated insurance solutions for the platforms economy, has expanded to Spain in its first step to international expansion through a partnership with Hiscox and was already its client in Portugal.

The operation starts with the OSCAR domestic services platform, which currently operates in 20 Spanish cities, and is also a client of Indie Seguros in Portugal. With this collaboration, all the platform’s services are automatically covered by Hiscox, offering instant and tailored protection for thousands of services provided monthly.

João Teixeira Fernandes, CEO of Indie Seguros, commented that “this partnership with Hiscox marks the beginning of our international presence and proves that the future of insurance will be collaborative,” adding that they are building solutions that adapt to the pace of the digital economy and “close the ‘insurance gap’ that still leaves millions of workers and companies unprotected.”

“The company is now in a phase of expansion with plans to quadruple its team and multiply by 10 its turnover over the next 18 months. The goal is to consolidate the operation in Portugal and Spain and prepare to launch into new European markets”, he adds.
