Around two-thirds of Portuguese companies admit to having been targeted by fraudsters over the past year according to a study by Deloitte.

In specific percentages, 28% of companies in the survey reported fraud in 2025 and 73% recognised that cases of fraud directly affected financial results, with 56% estimating that fraud actually has a direct impact on the financial position of companies varying at between 0.5% and 2% of revenues.

However, 76% of companies continue to not use technology to detect cases of fraud and corruption.

And the vast majority (72%) have no intention of investing more than €25,000 on automatic detection tools in the coming year.

The conclusions were published in the Corruption & Fraud Survey 2025 by Deloitte which concluded that 28% of organisations reported having suffered from this type of incident.
