Portugal is at the forefront of the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI). This is according to Microsoft in its latest study “AI Diffusion Report: Where AI is most used, developed and built“, where the impact and adoption of this technology is highlighted. In this list, Portugal ranks 35th in the list of countries worldwide with the highest rate of AI adoption and 20th when only European countries are analysed.

The Microsoft report, prepared by the AI For Good Lab, shows that 22.4% of the working population in Portugal is using AI tools in their daily lives, below countries such as Sweden, Denmark, the United States, South Korea and Qatar. However, Portugal ranks above economies such as Greece, Japan, India and China.

This ranking is dominated by the United Arab Emirates, which has an adoption rate of 59.4% of its population, Singapore (58.6%), Norway (45.3%), Ireland (41.7%) and France (40.9%). Conversely, Cambodia ranks last on the list.

The study shows that AI has had a massive and rapid adoption among the active population of the various countries. Microsoft adds that within three years, more than a billion people worldwide were already frequent users of this type of technology.
