State posts €2Bn surplus to August

The Portuguese State posted a surplus of €2Bn to August, an improvement of €1.4Bn on the same period January to August 2024.

“Public Administrations (PA) recorded, until August 2025, an overall balance of €2,011.2 million, which represents an increase of €1,487.1 million compared to the same period (which presented an overall balance of €524.1 million)”, reads the document released today by the Budget Entity, formerly the General Directorate of Budget (DGO).

This evolution reflects an increase in revenues (8%), greater than expenditure (6.1%) explains the entity.
