Portugal’s Officetotal Food Brands buys Chipicao in Spain and France for €6 million
As part of its acquisition of the PepsiCo brand, Portugal’s Officetotal Food Brands, a company based in Ponte de Lima, has purchased the croissant manufacturing factory Chipicao in Carregado for €6 million.
The company will dismantle the Carregado production line and instead produce the croissants in the Minho in the North of Portugal.
Office Total Food Brands produces Belgian biscuits under the brand Saborosa, madalenas under the brand Aurosa, croissants and waffles, among other products.
It announced the acquisition of the Chipacao brand for the Portuguese, Spanish and French markets on Monday.
The brand was owned by the multinational PepsiCo since 1996, the year in which it began producing the croissants in Portugal. According to the online news source ECO, the business is worth around €6 million and production will be carried out at the industrial factory in Ponte de Lima from October 1.
