Young people up to 35 represent nearly 40% of new mortgages in 1H

Between January and June 2025 10.7 thousand new mortgages worth €2.1Bn were contracted under the government’s State Guarantee Regime (Porta Jovem 65) to help those under 36 get on the housing ladder.

These mortgage contracts represented 37.4% of new mortgage contracts and 39.8% of the total amount contracted in euros.

So far, €280 million has been awarded by the State as a guarantee for young people who bought a home to June 30.

In June alone, 2,300 contracts were signed with State guarantees by young people up to 35 years of age for the acquisition of their own permanent housing, totaling €441 million, representing 46.1% of the contracts and 47.6% of the contracted amount.
