24% of countryside properties in Portugal cost under €100,000
According to a study by idealista, an online estate agency, only 24% of houses advertised on their site as a “countryside house” have a price tag of less than €100,000.
The study was based on ‘for sale’ adverts over the first quarter of the year. A buyer was least likely to find a house for under €100,000 (1%) in Setúbal, Évora (8%) and Faro (9%) while house-hunters could get the best deals in Castelo Branco (pictured) (61%), Guarda (58%) and Bragança (50%).
In Porto and Braga houses under €100,000 were both at 15%, followed by the Island of São Miguel (17%), Aveiro (20%), and Portalegre (22%). On the Island of Madeira only 9% of countryside homes were under €100,000.
But you could still pick up a deal in Viana do Castelo (28%), Viseu (38%), Leiria (38%) and Coimbra (61%).
The countryside housing market (regardless of the price) only represents 6% of the total housing offer available on the idealista site.
